Designing a serrated trough for an oscillating conveyor

Abstract

Oscillating conveyors are used in industries to convey a variety of materials. But conveying becomes difficult with it is required to convey up an incline, to convey rolling particles or to convey the material with low coefficient of friction. A new ida of using a trough with saw-tooth like serrations has been proposed by Konnur and Parameswaran to overcome this difficulty. The present paper suggests a simplified method of determining the dimentions of serrations. The operating parameters under which ta serrated trough gives better performance than a conventional plance trough are also indicated.
