A highly repeated DNA sequence in the fish Cyprinus carpio
Abstract
A tandemly repeated DNA sequence is visible as a ladder of bands on agarose gel electrophoresis of Hind III-digested Cyprmus carpio DNA. Several members of this repeated DNA family have been cloned and sequenced. The repeat unit has a monomeric length of 245 bp and comprises about 8% of the fish genome. Sequence analysis showed to be AT rich with some direct and some inverted- repeat nucleotide clusters.
Keywords
