AGAR ELECTROPHORESIS Part I. A Simple Clinical Method for the Analysis of Serum Proteins

K V GIRI

Abstract

A technique of agar electrophoresis of serum proteins is described, which possesses the advantages of simplicity of equipment. better resolving power withont adsorption, simplicity in staining procedure and easily adaptable to densitometric measurements, elution and radioactive tracer analysis. It is suitable for routine analysis of serum protein fractions in any clinicallaboratory. The technique lends itself also to other fields of research. e,g" onzymcs. polysaccharides, hormones, antibiotics, alkaloids and a number of other high molecular substances.
