RADIATION FROM TAPERED DIELECTRIC ROD AERIALS

Abstract

Appoximate expressions for the radiated field of a tapered dielectric rod aerial have been derived employing Schelkunoff's equivalence principle. Using these expressions H-plane radiation patterns for some of the aerials, have been computed and these are compared with the experimentally observed patterns. Both the number and the relative amplitudes of minor lobes are found to decrease with increasing taper angle of the aerial.
