THE EFFECT OF ALIZARIN RED S IN DEPRESSING SILICEOUS GANGUE MINERALS IN THE FLOTATION OF PYRITE

Abstract

A low-grade pyrite sample from Ingaldhal chitatal drug district, Mysore assigning 44-55 per cent Fe,27-83 persent S and 16-13 persent SiO2 together with unsolubles were retrived from Mysore Geological department for benification tests the gangure minarals present were chlorite, hemitite, quatz, and magnatic and were intimatly assosiate with the pyrite straight flotation using potassium ammayl xanthate yeiled a concentrate assining to 45-6 % S with the recovery 90.28% .the alizarim red S for depressing the Silica and the other gaung minarals assyed 47-82% Swith a recovery of 90-67% .Artificaial mixers containg 5 % S did not respond well to the ALIZARIN red S treatment Straeayte and the dye has a limited use in the depression of sillious gaunge in pyrotic floation.
