MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIC SURFACE WAVES IN A RUNNING STREAM.

SUSAMA SAHA, KRIPASINDHU CHAUDHURI

Abstract

The three-dimensional problem of surface waves excited in a running stream of finite depth by arbitrary surface disturbances under the presence of magnetic and current fields has been studied. The integral expression of the free surface elevation gel has been asymptotically evaluated for large distances by applying the method of stationary phase. The results have been illustrated for rectangular and elliptic areas of disturbance on the free surface. Some features of the wave motion have been discussed.

Keywords

Free surface elevation, capillary-gravity waves, running-stream, method of stationary phase.
