New Technologies for Vaccine Development: Harnessing the Power of Human Immunology

Abstract

Our understanding of human immune responses is increasing
at an unprecedented scale. Cutting edge new technologies are
allowing us to disregard a piecemeal approach and analyze human
immune responses in a comprehensive and cohesive manner. Innovative
approaches to analyze immune cell phenotype, genotype, function,
and associated soluble factors have provided us with a new hope for
making vaccines against diseases that have been historically impossible.
This review recaps a few state-of-the-art tools and technologies that
have helped us harness the power of human immunology for vaccine
design, evaluation, and testing.
