Laser in the study of an ohmically heated jet
Abstract
A study of an axisymmetric vertical Jet subjected to local volumetric heating is reported. Using flow visualization, digital image processing and laser Doppler techniques, the properties of the Jet. namely, the axial component of velocity and scalar length scale have been studied to detail. The jet vertical structure gets disrupted on healing and the Jet no longer grows linearly with height, and the normalized turbulence intenslty shows a rapid decrease in the region of heating. This study shows that the behaviour of a volumetrically heated Jet is markedly different from that of ordinary jets, plumes and buoyant jets.
