Water pressure on a broken dam during earthquakes
Abstract
An exact method based on two-dimensional potential-flow theory has been applied for solving the problem of determination of the hydrodynamic pressure exerted during earthquakes on a dam whose upstream face is broken in the sense that it makes different angles with the homontal at different heights The pressure coefficient has been evaluated numerically and the results obtained have been compared With those determined experimentally by earthworkers.
