Turbulence characteristics of a plane diffuser flow with inlet velocity distortion
Abstract
An experimental study of turbulent characteristics of incompressible flow in a two dimensional diffuser with inlet velocity distortion is reported. Turbulence level in the boundary layer increases marginally towards the exit of the diffuser and decreases rapidly in the wake region. The region of maximum velocity fluctuation and the maximum Reynolds shear stress shifts away from the wall in the stream wise direction. The energy spectra of the turbulent kinetic energy in the wake region shows a characteristic behaviour indicating possible vortex shedding from the trailing edge of the airfoil.
