Some observations on stress freezing
Abstract
This paper reports investigations carried out on 6-mm thick specimens of AraJdite, a photoelastic material to lock-in deformations at temperatures lower (65°C) than the current practice (130°C) employing cold-cast model material with CY230 resin and HY951 hardener or hot-cast model material with CY230 resin and HT901 hardener. The model material and the temperature range employed enable one to overcome the drawbacks and limitations of Sc:hwaighofer's 'Extended frozen stress method'.
Keywords
Stress freezing; photoelasticity.
