Synthesis, charaterization and analytical properties of indane - 1,2,3 - trione monosemicarbazone: Spectrophotometric determination of copper (II) and palladium (II)
Abstract
Copper(II) and palladium(II) form 1:2 and 1:1 complexes with indane-1,2,3-trione mononsemicarbazone (ITMS) respectively in sodium acetate-acetic acid buffer medium. Both complexes conform to Beer's law up to 3.49 ppm of copper [molar absorptivity (E), 1.25 x 10^4 liter mole^1 cm^-1 at 355 nm] and 7.66 of palladium [E, 7.21 x 10^3 liter mol^1 com^-1 at 360 nm]. The solid complexes of copper(II) and palladium(II) with ITMS are isolated and characterized and probable structures assigned. Tolerance limit for foreign ions are given and ITMS is sued for the determination of copper in ferrous material.
