NEW GENERALIZED CORRELATION FOR VELOCITY OF SOUND
Abstract
A new method for the calculation of velocity of sound in compressed gases based on a three parameter theorem of corresponding states employing molar polarization at the critical temperature as the third parameter is proposed and tested, Comparisons are made with data for all classes of substances such as simple, quantum mechanical and polar fluids to establish the validity of the proposed method, The generalized charts presented in this paper give (on an overall basis) results in better agreement with experimental data on velocity of sound as well as isothermal variation of heat capacity and the isothermal and isobaric volume derivatives and compared to all the methods available in literature for these properties,
Keywords
Velocity of sound in gases; Heat capacity; Derivative compressibility factors; Corresponding states.
