Abstract

The radiation pattern of a dielectric-coated metal cylinder is theoretically derived by applying Schelkunoff's Equivalence Principle. The radiation characteristics of the antenna like the position and beam width of the major lobe, positions and intensities of sidelobes and the gain are determined and their variations with the physical parameters of the antenna like the length (1), the No ratio, the conductor radius (a), the dielectric constant (Er) and the frequency of excitation (f). Someof the theoretical results have been verified by experiments.
