STUDIES IN THE BACTERIOLOGY OF SEWAGE
Abstract
Over 400 bacterial cultures were isolated from raw sewage by employing the enrichment culture technique: as well as by direct plating on nutrient agar. The enrichments attempted were nitrate- glycerol, nitrate, citrate, nitrogen free-mannitola sucrose, urea and pectin-ammonium sulphate . Quantitative data on the aerobic bacterial population of sewage and sludges were also obtained.
