Synthesis of chiral insect pheromones

Abstract

Syntheses of chiral insect pheromones have been rewewed The pheromones are categorised into three classes based on the root of chiralities. These were pheromones with chirality due to: ( I ) methyl branching (Type A), (ii) possession of oxygenated functionallty( Type B). and ( i i a) combination of both (Type C). Rational synthetic design for the above pheromone types have been discussed highlighting the contributions from our own laborarory.
