THE INTERACTION OF AN INHOMOGENEITY WITH A CONCENTRATED FORCE IN COUPLE STRESS THEORY
Abstract
Using complex variable methods, the problem of interaction between an inhomogeneity and a concentrated force in two dimensional linear couple stress theory has been studied in this paper. The concentrated force could be situated in the matrix or in the inhomogeneity. Edge dislocation type singularities can also be considered. The effect of a concentrated force on a circular inhomogeneity in an infinite medium has been discussed in detail. Stresses could be bounded at infinity. Numerical results are in conformity with the fact that the effect of couple stresses is negligible when the ratio of the smallest dimension of the body to the charateristic length is large.
