GRIFFITH CRACK IN AN INFINITE ELASTIC MEDIUM
Abstract
An asymmetrically loaded Griffith type strip crack in an infinite isotropic elastic medium is studied. Analysis is based on the finite Hilbert transform technique developed by Srivastava and Lowengrub' and a result on singular integral equation for the change ef order of Cauchy principal integrals referred in Ref 2. Closed form solutions are obtained for physically important quantities such as maximum shearing stress and normal component of displacement along the line of the crack.
