Ecology or Diaphanosoma brachyurum Lieven (Cladocera : Crustacea) in Lake Manasbal, Kashmir

Abstract


The paper describes the seasonal distribution and abundance of Diaphanosoma brachyum Lieven Cladocera: Crustacea) in Lake Manasbal, Kashmir. The lake is,alkaline and conforms to the,  warm  type. D. brachyum remains mainly confined to the Iimnetie zone of the lake and forms aestival species. It prefers water with temperature above 20' 00 C and pH> 8· O.
