Superconducting Cuprates - phenomena and ideas five years later

Abstract

The normal metallic state of the superconducting- cuprates appears to be qualitatively different from known metals. Some of these unusual properties are described after a brief introduction. A number of ideas proposed to explain the normal state are mentioned briefly and a new approach is outlined.
