Abstract

Understanding of light propagation in fiber and integrated optical waveguide is important in designing efficient guided wave optical structures. Depending on the complexity of the device various analytical and numerical methods of analysis have been developed by many group- Two of the popular method are bean propagation method (BPM) and coupled-mode theory. Out group has, with certain modulations and improvement applied these theories to study a few integrated optical devices. These include light propagation. In planer and channel waveguide bends, coupling of light from fiber to waveguide and Cerenkov second harmonic generation. Theoretical derivations, and some results are reviewed in this paper.
