Photodissodation dynamics of alkyl iodides: I*(2P1/2) production in the ultraviolet

Abstract

In this paper the dissociation of a series of a-, .B-branched and n-alkyl iodides at different wavelengths in their A-band of absorption is discussed. Photofragments I and I* formed during dissociation are probed by the two-photon laser-induced fluorescence technique in our laboratory. Our results along with the data collected by others seem to throw light on the overall understanding of the dissociation dynamics of alkyl iodides in their A-band of absorption.
